Something I Love

That would definitely have to be entertaining at my home!  I was challenged to do a layout based on something I *love* to do (for Ms.Scrap-Tastic 2010 over at Scraptastic site) and this was the first thing that came to mind.

I love thinking about a guest list, thinking about the recipes, thinking about how to make it relaxing and carefree while the guests are here (because let's face it, it's not in the hours leading up to the event...with all the last minute stuff) and thinking of little ways to make people feel special.  Now I don't always pull it all off, but that's the goal.  And it doesn't matter if it's 6 people over or 150 people coming, the goal is the same.

The layout above is a birthday party I hosted in June for a very dear friend of mine.  She's completely amazing and special and I wanted her to feel that.  And yes, we surprised her. :)   Her DH invited her friends and family from downstate (very cool!) and also from this community and church.  I worked on the logistics, menu, decorations and preparations.

Of course to pull off a big event like this I needed help.....and boy did I get it.  One friend decorated tables with me all afternoon.  One (well two LOL) ran to pick pulled pork up from the local meat market.  Two deep fried fresh fish, homemade deep fried onion rings & mushrooms (oh my goodness that was to die for!).  One came early and just helped with any little last minute thing that needed to be done....and stayed to clean up as it all came to a close.  A few others did dishes while we took tables down.  And on the list goes.  I so love my friends!!!

The evening was a huge success......and she felt very loved.  And THAT's what it was all about.  I can't wait to scrap the rest of the pictures!

Above layout made using this sketch:
From Let's Scrap!  Isn't it fun to use sketches?  I just got the coolest new sketch book this week....but that's for another post. ;)
